How does your child feel?

Dear Readers,

Sometimes it's hard for your child  to express his/her feelings.  THE FEELINGS BOOK written by Todd Parr is a colorful BOARD BOOK.
Published by Little Brown and Co., in 2000, the book lets your child discover the different feelings or emotions he/she can have.

Does your child feel lonely? Does he feel silly or feels like dancing?

There is one emotion per page, with big illustrations. "Sometimes I feel like camping with my dog. Sometimes I feel like crying. Sometimes I feel brave.
Sometimes I feel like yelling out loud."

The theme of the story is on the last page: "No matter how you feel,  don't keep your feelings to yourself. Todd emphasizes to "share them with someone you love."    

This is a good read-aloud book. Other board books written by Todd Parr are: Do's and Dont's, The Best Friends Book, The Okay Book  and
This Is My Hair.

Did you guess the title of the book?

Dear Readers,

I ALREADY KNOW I LOVE YOU, written by Billy Crystal and illustrated
by Elizabeth Sayles, is the story based on Mr. Crystal's experience of becoming a grandpa for the first time. Published in 2004 by Harper Collins, the first stanza of the story is: 

       "I'm going to be your grandpa!
           I have the biggest smile.
       I've been waiting to meet you
           for such a long, long while.

As you can see, the book is in rhyme. There  are big, beautiful  pastel pictures that go with the text. Mr. Krystal describes things he wants to do with
his grandchild when he/she is born. He wants to play peekaboo, horsey, hear the baby giggle, feel the heartbeat as the baby lies on his chest. He waits to explain why the sky is blue. He wants eat icecream with his grandchild.

There are many more activities Mr. Krystal wants to do with his grandchild when he/she is born.

      "I want to teach you about our family
          with pictures from long ago.
      You're the new twig on our tree,
          and I can't wait to watch you grow.

The story is very sincere. The last line of the story is:

     "I'm going to be your grandpa, and...

        I can hardly wait.

This picture book is hard-cover. The story is so beautiful. It can be read aloud to your child or silently he/she can read it. Every page has a new adventure. After reading this book, you get a sense of security, happiness, and joy of being a grandpa.

Go to the library and get I ALREADY KNOW I LOVE YOU.

A NEW YEAR, MORE BOOKS TO READ

Dear Readers,
It's been a while since my last blog. I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with love, joy, peace and good  will.

As you know, we've been having some freezing  weather and snow and ice. "Br, Br, Br." Be careful walking and going to school.


There are two books I think you would  enjoy. Fletcher and the Falling Leaves-written  by Julia Rawlinson and illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke.
Published in 2006 by Greenwillow Books,  the illustrations are in pastel.
Fletcher is the story of a fox who worries about his favorite tree that is losing leaves. He feels  that the tree is  sick.  Something magical happens.
Read to find out. (the book is soft cover.)


Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cane  wrote and illustrated a best-selling picture book for children, ages 4-8.  The title is: I'm Gonna Like Me Letting  Off a Little Self-Esteem. The sentences rhyme, the story reads fast, and the illustrations are big and colorful. Each page is full  of
action.  The main theme of the story is "Like  yourself, no matter what."

Tomorrow, I will let you know about a grandfather and his grandchild.
